Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
The International Journal of Applied Smart Interdisciplinary Technologies (IJASIT) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
This statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.
1. Duties of Authors
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original. Any form of plagiarism, including copying or paraphrasing without proper citation, is strictly prohibited.
Multiple or Concurrent Publication
Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously. Duplicate or redundant publication is unethical and unacceptable.
Data Integrity
Authors must present accurate data and results. Fabrication, falsification, or manipulation of data is considered unethical behavior.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the research. All co-authors must approve the final manuscript.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. All sources must be appropriately cited.
Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their work.
2. Duties of Editors
Publication Decisions
Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published based on their academic merit, originality, and relevance.
Fair Play
Editors evaluate manuscripts without discrimination based on race, gender, religion, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
Confidentiality
Editors must ensure that information regarding submitted manuscripts is kept confidential.
Conflict of Interest
Editors must not use unpublished information for personal advantage and should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where conflicts exist.
3. Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer reviewers assist editors in making publication decisions and improving the quality of manuscripts.
Confidentiality
Reviewers must treat manuscripts as confidential documents and must not share or discuss them with others.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear and constructive feedback.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors.
Conflict of Interest
Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where conflicts of interest exist.
4. Publisher Responsibilities
The publisher ensures that editorial decisions are independent and not influenced by commercial interests. The publisher is committed to supporting ethical practices and maintaining the integrity of the academic record.
5. Plagiarism Policy
All submissions are checked using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts with significant plagiarism (generally above 10–15%) will be rejected immediately.
6. Handling of Misconduct
In cases of suspected misconduct (plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, etc.), the journal will:
- Investigate the issue thoroughly
- Contact the authors for clarification
- Reject or retract the manuscript if necessary
- Inform relevant institutions if required
7. Retraction Policy
Articles may be retracted if:
- There is clear evidence of unreliable findings
- Plagiarism or unethical research is detected
- Duplicate publication is identified
A retraction notice will be published to maintain transparency.
8. Copyright and Licensing
Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right to publish. Articles may be distributed under an appropriate open-access license.
9. Ethical Compliance
All research involving human participants or animals must comply with relevant ethical standards and approvals.
